About

As an illustrator and printmaker, my work is focused on Northern social and cultural heritage and nature. I have a keen interest in the Arts and Crafts movement, Northern artists and so-called 'outsider art'. The ethos of these movements and the artists associated with them: the importance of both craft and vision, democratisation of art and acute observation, are central to my own work. In terms of research, key areas of interest are the history and physicality of printed objects and Northern working-class material culture.

I aim to bring a touch of fantasy and timelessness to my work, in order to evoke memories and atmosphere. I work with traditional archival materials and techniques. The human hand, touch and emotion are essential. There is no Ai used anywhere in any of my work, ever.

As part of my creative practice, I have worked as a community artist with various cultural institutions in the region, including North East Museums, The Laing Art Gallery and schools in the area. I have considerable experience of delivering creative responses and workshops across all age groups in both educational settings and museums/art galleries. My work can next be seen as part of the Northumberland Open Exhibition at Woodhorn Museum from 14th February to the 10th May 2026.
