Lucy N Wilkinson Illustration

Celebrating the heritage and culture of North-East England through traditional illustration 

Born in Newcastle upon Tyne, Lucy's work is focused on Northern social and cultural heritage with a keen interest in the Arts and Crafts movement, Northern artists and the interplay of nature and industry in the North-East. Her work combines painting with classic signwriting and hand lettering techniques to better tell the stories behind her subjects.

In terms of research, Lucy's key areas of interest are the history and physicality of printed objects, Northern working-class culture and the democratisation of art.

As part of her creative practice, she has worked as a community artist and muralist with various cultural institutions in the area, including North East Museums, The Laing Art Gallery, The Tyne Theatre and Opera House and schools in the region. 

She has considerable experience of delivering commissions and creative response projects and workshops across all age groups in both educational settings and museums/art galleries. 

Lucy works from her studio based outside of Hexham, Northumberland and regularly exhibits work in the North-East and beyond.
