Portrait Commissions
Below are some recently completed commissions. If you would like to request a portrait, tips for photographs required and a price list are available below. Portraits can be completed in either graphite, watercolour or oils. All portraits are supplied mounted for framing and are always mounted to the next A size up, (so an A5 portrait is mounted for an A4 frame for example). I can also provide hand illustrated, personalised mounts for an extra fee (see below).

Watercolour sketches
A quick series of sketches of Sally (seen here in the photograph), a blue Staffordshire Bull Terrier.
Quick watercolour sketches can really capture the playfulness and energy of the subject.
Sally certainly has lots of energy!
Portrait Process

Once the photographs have been received, initial sketches are created in order to capture the personality and character of the subject. This is then used as a basis to produce the finished painting. Examples of the stages can be seen here.
Commissioning a Portrait
Please see the steps below to assist you with the process of commissioning a portrait

Provide photographs
For the best result, send high quality, well lit photographs of your pet.
Photographs do not have to be front view, although this is perfectly fine. if you prefer, they can be a side or profile view.

Decide which medium you would like
Portraits can be completed in graphite, watercolour or oil paint.
If you would like to discuss which might suit your commission best, please let me know.

Any Extras?
As an additional option, I can provide the finished portrait window mounted in a custom painted, personalised mount in a variety of colours. You can see an example of this below.

The finished piece
Once complete, the finished portrait will be carefully wrapped and packed, then delivered signed with a certificate of authenticity.
Sizes & Prices
All portraits are supplied mounted (plain mount as standard) and ready for framing. Custom colours and hand illustrated mounts with personalisation can be added for an extra fee, please see below.
Portraits are always mounted in the size up from the portrait. So an A5 portrait will be mounted for an A4 frame for example.

Personalised Mounts
Add an illustrated, personalised mount to your portrait
Hand illustrated mounts can be included as an optional extra with portrait commissions.
These are created using mount board and gold ink, with dog rose motif and personalisation of your choice (an example of this using a soft green mount is seen in the photographs here).
Once the mount is complete, the portrait is window mounted with a T-hinge using archival materials prior to delivery. Mounts can be supplied in Ivory, champagne or soft green colours to suit the portrait and your own preference.

When requesting a commission, please specify that you would like to include an illustrated mount and state the colour and name you wish to be included.
